Music Matters

We are excited to announce that this Thursday, April 3, 2014, NAfME will take part in a congressional briefing on Capitol Hill! The panel discussion titled “Music Matters” is hosted by the Rock and Roll Caucus and Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-OH-11) and will focus on the importance and impact of music education.

NAfME Assistant Executive Director Chris Woodside will join Dr. Lauren Onkey, Vice President of Education and Public Programming at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum; Jennifer Mondie, violist and Orchestra Committee Chairman at the National Symphony Orchestra; and Paul Cothran, Executive Director of VH1 Save the Music Foundation.

This is a critically important opportunity to inform our legislators of the necessity and value of classroom music, and of the equal access to music education all students must have. Please let your member of congress know about this exciting event and encourage them to attend! (And if they are a member of the Rock and Roll Caucus, please thank them for hosting this briefing.)

For details, see the flyer about the April 3 congressional briefing.
